The creator and first ninja to have the Byakugan was a female named Tenhogosha. She was sent to earth too, like the other three Gods, so she could learn from humans and teach her mastery of Taijutsu. She was the first to create the "Gentle Fist" style. Her mastery of it has never been close to anything tat humans are capable of. Even though she says that the hyuuga clan has ninja that could come close but over the yearsthe elders became agreed that only the inner family could birth that ninja. She intended for the Hyuuga to be a clan of great ninja, not politicians or ones to label any Hyuuga below the others. Also, since the first Hyuuga was female, all female Hyuugas are expected to be great, quick and if not, they usually get set aside. The females have it worse in the way their trained and in the expectations from the clan.
Tenhogosha traveled the world for many, many centuries, perfecting her Taijutsu and helping human ninja create other Tai styles. Her Byakugan is perfect, as she has n blind spot, and she can scan an entire country , not just a mile or so. No type of Genjutsu, or Ninjutsu can effect her sight (unless it's another God). It's said she fought two countries armies at the same time, with only her Tai skills, and all 10,000 men were defeated in an hour. It's said that when she was fired at with thousands of arrows, she blocked and reflected them back, killing all of the men who shot them at her.

The Hyuuga clan is one of the oldest and most powerful clans in Konohagakure. All members born in to the family possess the Byakugan, a kekkei genkai that gives them extended fields of vision and the ability to see chakra. The Uchiha clan's Sharingan is believed to be descended from the Byakugan.

The clan is separated into two parts, the main house and the branch house , a system that protects the secrets of the Byakugan from outsiders. The main house runs the family while the branch house protects it. The members of the branch house are branded with a cursed seal. This seal gives the main house members absolute control over the branch members, because they can destroy the branch members' brains with a simple hand gesture, or cause them great pain to punish them. This seal also makes sure the secret of the Hyuga's Byakugan is safe, because it seals the Byakugan after the wearer of the seal dies. Because they are essentially servants simply because of their birth order or heritage, some branch house members are hostile to those of the main house.

Members of the clan are instructed in the use of the Gentle Fist style, which uses the Byakugan to view the opponent's Chakra Pathway System and deal precise blows to disable and impede the flow of chakra. Due to training in this style, Hyuga clan members tend to have excellent chakra control. This is emphasized in jutsu that utilize this chakra control, as well as the nuances of the Gentle Fist style. The clan's strongest techniques, like the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, are only allowed to be taught to members of the main house. Neji Hyuga however, has bypassed this restriction by learning them on his own, earning a reputation as a "genius" in the clan.

Complete Vision: Able to see not only Chakra Points but also muscle tissue, veins and organs. So she is able to beat or kill anyone in many ways with just her hands. She is also able to add Elements to her Taijutsu.

Bloodline: Byakugan
The Byakugan is a genetic trait that is shared amongst the members of the Hyuga Clan. Those that inherit the blood of this clan have almost featureless white eyes (Neji's and Hinata's eyes seem to have tints of lavender and blue-gray, respectively). Although it is not stated directly, it is assumed that all members of the Hyuga family possess the Byakugan. It is a common, but not proven belief that the Sharingan is a genetic offshoot of the Byakugan.

The Byakugan is the primary focus of the Hyuga's special arts. When the Byakugan is activated, their pupils become more distinct and the veins near their temples bulge. Once active the Byakugan gives the user a near 360º field of vision except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the third thoracic vertebra. They also have the ability to see through solid objects, and can use a degree of telescopic sight. The distance and the degree of telescopic sight varies from person to person. In Part I, Neji Hyuga was able to see an area of 50 meters, but later he increases his visual range to at least 800 meters. During the hunt for either of the Uchiha brothers, Hinata was shown to be able to view Amaterasu's flames and the chakra in the area from ten kilometers away.

However, one of the greatest uses of the Byakugan is the ability to see the chakra circulation system inside of another's body. The Byakugan has also shown the ability to see what a person's chakra type is, by looking into someone's chakra points. It is from this particular ability that they are able to employ their ultimate attack style: Gentle Fist. Unlike the Strong Fist, which is focused on external injuries, the Gentle Fist style focuses on internal injuries. Each strike, when placed correctly, strikes along the Chakra Pathway System, which is the network of vessels that carry chakra. This network is closely intertwined with the functioning of the body's organs, and so when the keirakukei take damage, the organs suffer as well. There is no defense against the Gentle Fist, since one cannot train one's internal organs to become stronger. The only possible defense is to stop the Gentle Fist's hits from connecting.

Particularly skilled users of the Byakugan, which appear only rarely, such as Neji Hyuga, can take the Gentle Fist style one step further. Along the keirakurei are 361 pinprick-sized nodes called Tenketsu, or chakra points. When struck, these tenketsu will seal off, which close the opening points from which chakra is emitted. Thus, with precision, all those points along the victim's body can be sealed, stopping the chakra flow to those areas. Most of the Hyuga clan cannot even perform this because the Tenketsu are too small to see. Neji Hyuga is the rare exception, having taught himself the ultimate Hyuga technique, Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, along with Hinata Hyuga, who was not able to do 64 palms like Neji, but she is able to do Eight Trigrams 32 Palms, a slightly weaker version of Neji's, albeit only in the anime.In his battle against Kidomaru, Neji attacked with 128 palms. Able to strike without force, and yet do more damage to a ninja than some of the most powerful Ninjutsu, the Gentle Fist is the greatest Taijutsu style known in all of Konohagakure.

Name: Heaven's Dance of Hazy White

Hinata's two hands turn light with chakra. Hinata takes several swipes at the enemy with her hands, and combining with a clash with both of her hands, she makes a great explosion and the opponent flies off some feet.

Name: Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists

The user forms two large lion-like shrouds of chakra around their hands, then thrusts them forward at the opponent. The jutsu seems to be performed in a spinning manner to confuse and throw off the opponent's aim.

Name: Gentle Fist Instruction

Hanabi strikes her opponent with several Gentle Fist moves, causing them to fall to the ground. Hanabi then goes to her father, Hiashi, and asks him how she did. Hiashi notices the opponent starts to get up, and with incredible speed kills the opponent. Hiashi then tells Hanabi that she needs to pay attention to her opponents.

The Gentle Fist style of combat is based on palm strikes and generally aims to damage the body's Chakra Pathway System, thus creating difficulty by inhibiting an opponent's use of chakra. To do this, the user will forcefully insert a small amount of their own chakra into an opponent's chakra pathway system. The chakra can the be used to rupture or divert chakra flow, preventing them from using jutsu. It can also be used to attack the opponent's internal organs, to which the chakra pathway system is closely tied. Even the slightest tap from this style can cause major damage, hence the name "gentle fist." Because the chakra pathway system is invisible, the Byakugan is required for this style to be used effectively. Since the Byakugan is unique to the Hyuga clan, it has become their signature style of combat.

Name: Eight Trigrams Three-Hundred-Sixty-One Palms
This jutsu allows the user to strike all 361 chakra points of the opponent, paralyzing them with each blow and instantly killing them upon the final hit. When using this technique, the speed of the user is comparable to that of the Reverse Lotus.

Neji uses Wind Palm thrice on his opponent, sending them crashing into a plateau of stone, before using it again to collapse the plateau on the opponent.

This technique is Hinata's minor version of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. Although it only closes 32 chakra points, it seems to be equally fatal or it could just be Hinata hitting the chakra points near to sensitive organs such as the heart.

Hinata uses a two-handed Gentle Fist on the enemy several times from all angles before dashing in front of them and charging chakra within her palms and striking the enemy, draining their chakra.

Neji uses his Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, but only 8 to 16 times and sends the enemy flying with his palms. Hinata then attacks with her Eight Trigrams Stream Palm Wave, but the last two hit and the chakra wave and Neji finish with a strike of concentrated chakra in his fingers.

This jutsu closes off sixty-four specific chakra points on an opponent's body with the Gentle Fist, effectively eliminating their ability to use chakra for quite some time and making it difficult for them to move. It begins with striking two chakra points, followed by four more, then eight, then sixteen, then thirty-two, and then sixty-four strikes. Each set of strikes is done at an exponentially increasing pace and strength. The attack not only disables the enemy but also knocks them back with every set of strikes. In the anime, a minor version of this technique is Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms and the doubled version of this technique is Eight Trigrams One Hundred Twenty-Eight Palms.

This jutsu utilizes the chakra control gained through Gentle Fist training to release a huge amount of chakra from the user's chakra points right before being struck. The released chakra blocks any possible attack on the user. The user then spins rapidly to parry the attack, both creating a shield of chakra around themselves and tossing away any nearby attackers. This jutsu is only effective when rotating, since the chakra itself is not enough to stop a physical attack. If they cannot rotate, the user becomes vulnerable.

This jutsu is essentially a doubled version of Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. Like the former, it closes off the opponent's tenketsu. However, it closes off twice as many (128) at twice the speed. Alternatively, it can be used to hit a great number of targets very quickly.

This jutsu is similar in practice to Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin, but has a specific target rather than a general area. To perform it, the user does a palm thrust to violently push the opponent away.

Neji strikes the enemy's vital area while discharging his chakra within the enemy's body until it bursts from the back in the form of a small thin beam that rapidly enlarges into a massive mountain-destroying wave of chakra. He uses a similar jutsu in the anime.

Neji grabs the opponents extended arm, flips them around and then strikes them thrice on the back, sending them flying.

Neji kicks the opponent once on their knee, and then kicks them twice on their face in rapid succession, sending them spiraling upwards.

Neji leaps forward and pass strikes the enemy before striking them several times in the back before dashing in front of the enemy who he strikes several more times until using an Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin-like strike to launch the enemy into the air where they suffer several more strikes from Neji who then reveals the Zone of Eight Trigrams before striking the enemy many time at light speed, blasting them into the air in a beam of chakra.

Name: Protection of the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms

This jutsu was made by Hinata herself. In this jutsu, Hinata emits a constant stream of chakra from her palms, creating extremely sharp chakra blades. With her natural flexibility, Hinata can reach any point around her, allowing her to hit any target within her field of vision. While using this jutsu, Hinata moves extremely fast (her movements become a blur), allowing her to hit hundreds of targets with extreme precision, much like the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms. Additionally, Hinata can control the size of the chakra beams in her palms, allowing her to create larger, arc-shaped chakra beams that spread out across her entire attack range. With this and her natural flexibility, the technique creates an "absolute defense" effect similar to that of the Eight Trigrams Palms Heavenly Spin, though the cutting nature of the chakra prevents any outside force from restricting it. In this way, the technique can be used as both an offensive and defensive maneuver. When she uses the first form of the jutsu, the one with the straight chakra blades, she can spin to increase the effectiveness to such a level that she can deflect sand-sized particles, as shown in her fight with Jiga in the Land of Vegetables arc.
